The Club launched a new Recruitment Drive aimed at local people who are already engaged in other sports, advising them that Coastal Rowing is excellent for sustained exercise for most people, carried out in the fresh air in congenital company. If you have visited this website because you are looking for something new and exciting form of sport, here are the details of our Club where you will be made most welcome.
Troon Coastal Rowing Club own 2 – 22′ rowing skiffs – each of which is crewed by rowers and a coxswain, the Club has 2 qualified rowing coaches and a team of experienced coxes, all of whom are able to organise and conduct a rowing session at sea – we can arrange exclusive use of a skiff and develop a programme to suit or we can adapt a standard session to suit the needs of sporting enthusiasts.
The Club meets on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 10am and on Sunday afternoons at 2pm and, during British Standard Time, at 5.30pm. We row out of Troon Marina assembling at the head of the slipway. We are not seasonal, the Club rows all year and sessions are cancelled only if the wind and sea state is unsuitable for rowing.
The Club operates a “give it a Go” programme at no cost. Visitors are welcome to try rowing a couple of times before committing to membership. Adult membership costs £36 per year from 1st April. Junior membership is available at £18 per year.
We engage in a full Regatta programme all over Scotland and here, at home, in Troon.
If you would like to become involved, please turn up at one of our sessions, make yourself known explaining your sporting background. For more detailed information please contact the Club Secretary, David Sutherland on 01292 311980 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
THE ALTERNATIVE GUIDE TO COASTAL ROWING
This wee book is both witty and perceptive and is great value for money at £5.25. It was written, earlier this year, by our very own Club Secretary, David Sutherland, who has been involved here in Troon since the very beginning of the coastal rowing experience. David reports that the book has been selling very well and has, by now, reached into the far corners of the coastal rowing world. It is still available and would make a great present – end of season award, autumn gift or, dare I say it, Christmas present! The book contains a number of David’s own sketches – to purchase your copy (before they are all gone) contact David on email@example.com or visit his website at http://www.calli-graphics.co.uk/AltGuide.html
