With the recent wind speeds and the forecast for the day ,it did not look good for rowing.

However the weather stayed kind-ish as we hosted our festive rowing event, both Troon skiffs launched plus our neighbours from Prestwick and Girvan gave us a mini Xmas regatta of  four boats out plus rowers from Carrick.

About 40 rowers taking turns through the harbour and out to sea,the wind still enough to make this rowing mallarky not so easy but fortified with mulled wine ,stollen cake and mince pies a great session enjoyed by all taking part.

Rowing over it’s off to the Harbour Bar for soup and steak pie lunch and the draw of our raffle which once again had so many generous donations.

Great day out with our friends and hoping the winds favour us for our New Years Day outing and herald in another great year of coastal rowing.

Festive rowing

The committee has decided to leave the rowing sessions as normal over the festive period, weather dependant as usual if enough people turn up to row then the session can go ahead. The wind forecasts are not looking great this week but there can be dips from forecasts as we saw last Wednesday with rain and wind easing off allowing a couple of pleasant outings.

The Monday 28th festive row with Carrick and Girvan expected to be present will go ahead regardless , well at least the mulled wine mince pies and lunch at the Harbour Bar, forecast is that winds could be easing from 27th on so santa hats etc at the ready.

Raffle tickets still on sale draw will be made 28th at Harbour Bar

Still spaces for any volunteers for bag packing fundraiser on Monday 21st at Morrisons , contact Secretary if you can assist.

Recent weather conditions have not been very kind for coastal rowers, with very little rowing over the past several weeks, but finally a little lull in the wind speeds Saturday saw a good turnout of members with several outings.Hopefully Santa can provide some fine weather for our fun festive activity’s coming up .
