Around twenty members met at the Yacht Haven slipway to celebrate the New Year as we have been doing since the club was formed. Both skiffs were launched in a breezy NW wind and after wards all enjoyed mulled wine, coffee, sausages, mince pies, cake and biscuits.

Bag Packing Morissons 21.12.18

Club Xmas Dinner 30.11.18
The club annual Xmas dinner was held in Scotts restaurant with members and family attending.A enjoyable evening and a raffle held raised £130 towards club funds.
Charitable Donations
The club has been awarded two separate charitable awards amounting to £2000.This will cover the cost of the Wemyss skiff currently being built and a cover and launching trolley.
SCRA Fresh water sprints Loch Tummel 26.10.18
5 Troon members travelled the long way to take part in the freshwater sprints and SCRA AGM at Loch Tummel. Taking part with other clubs from the SW region they came fourth on the day.Thanks to Renegade for supplying their skiff to the SW region.
Castle 2 Crane race 15.9.18
Our two skiffs took part in the Dumbarton Castle to Finneston Crane race (13miles),to celebrate The Clyde Built Festival along with 75 other rowing craft of which 61 were St Ayles skiffs.Ailsa Lass was entered in the Mens 50+category and came in 3rd place in a time of 1.58.03. Dunure Festival of the Sea 25.8.18
Along with Carrick Coastal Rowing Club we attended this social event in Dunure.The two skiffs offered “Give it a Go”sessions to any of the public who wished to try rowing.The weather on the day was spectacular and the entertainment,food and drink was great.Music by Mid Life Blues Band in the Dunure Inn was exceptional.
Stranraer Regatta 18.8.18
Along with thirteen other clubs we took part in this regatta which was over a 2km course.Troon finished seventh overall and in the Mens Open we finished a close fourth only being beaten by Dundrum (current World Champions),North Berwick (overall regatta winners) and Killyliegh from Ireland.The 2019 World Championships will be held in Stranraer over …
Cumbrae Folk and Row 11.8.18
Our club took part in an event organised by Cumbrae Coastal Rowing Club.This was a row from Millport over to The Wee Cumbrae and then across to Portencross.On the return a picnic was supplied by the club.The weather was ideal for the row and everyone who took part enjoyed this fairly long row.
