Stunning backdrops for rowing
With a mixture of weather conditions recently the club continues to enjoy some fine rowing sessions including a recent visit from Troon marina across the bay to the Puffer cafe at Irvine a fair distance row incorporating a crew change after coffee and empire biscuits, this photo by Jamie Mason
Other sessions have seen some choppier seas with both skiffs launched and a mixture of short and longer outings this pic Harry Risk
Was surprised and delighted to find the next photo by Tina Sinclair on a local facebook page ,the picture intended to capture the large tanker set  against the splendid backdrop of a snow capped Arran ,then viewers started spotting the two tiny boats and asked what they were,by chance a stunning pic of our Saturday morning rowing session.
This past month has seen a few have a go people turn up and enjoy the buzz that is coastal rowing and new members forms being filled in.
Against the wind
Despite moving through January from one storm to the next the club has had reasonable success with 50% of club sessions able to go ahead often seeing both skiffs deployed and a good turnout of members taking part, in some cases a few good distance trips took place.
As ever a welcome awaits anyone who thinks they may like to try,or wants a look at what we are about ,already the programme for away events is looking very exciting a good time to give us a try, full training and safety equipment is available, you could be racing at our own Regatta or even taking part in the Skiifie Worlds. The wildlife encountered not far from our shores rarely disappoints from inquisitive harbour and common seals poking their heads up around us for a look see to cormorants herons and the spectacular sights of watching hundreds of Eider ducks flapping and running across the water as they take to flight.
Nearer to home, sessions are weather assessed on the day ,we do get enough calm days for more adventurous and longer distance outings such as Lappock Rock ,Lady Isle other destinations suggested will be considered.
On a recent outing around to the North Shore on very low tide we discovered that the pipe running out  could possibly serve as a makeshift pontoon.
A great start to new year
Troon Coastal rowing off to a great start of a new year of rowing.
3rd January saw the third consecutive day of rowing on the waters of Troon, despite wind forecasts the weather was kind enough for us to launch and enjoy some rowing.
Next rowing session will be 10 am Wednesday and forecast at this stage is very favourable,if you have not tried rowing and fancy a go check out our rowing times, you will be made most welcome, simply turn up and Have A Go, full training and equipment supplied.
Happy New Year to all
A happy new year to all from Troon Coastal Rowing, despite weather forecasts it was good to go at Troon for our New Years Row.
With a good turnout of a dozen rowers plus a couple of supporters both our skiffs were launched and put to sea for a refreshing start to 2016.
Wind kind for festive row
With the recent wind speeds and the forecast for the day ,it did not look good for rowing.
However the weather stayed kind-ish as we hosted our festive rowing event, both Troon skiffs launched plus our neighbours from Prestwick and Girvan gave us a mini Xmas regatta of  four boats out plus rowers from Carrick.
About 40 rowers taking turns through the harbour and out to sea,the wind still enough to make this rowing mallarky not so easy but fortified with mulled wine ,stollen cake and mince pies a great session enjoyed by all taking part.
Rowing over it’s off to the Harbour Bar for soup and steak pie lunch and the draw of our raffle which once again had so many generous donations.
Great day out with our friends and hoping the winds favour us for our New Years Day outing and herald in another great year of coastal rowing.
HAPPY NEW YEAR Â TO ALL
Festive rowing
The committee has decided to leave the rowing sessions as normal over the festive period, weather dependant as usual if enough people turn up to row then the session can go ahead. The wind forecasts are not looking great this week but there can be dips from forecasts as we saw last Wednesday with rain and wind easing off allowing a couple of pleasant outings.
The Monday 28th festive row with Carrick and Girvan expected to be present will go ahead regardless , well at least the mulled wine mince pies and lunch at the Harbour Bar, forecast is that winds could be easing from 27th on so santa hats etc at the ready.
Raffle tickets still on sale draw will be made 28th at Harbour Bar
Still spaces for any volunteers for bag packing fundraiser on Monday 21st at Morrisons , contact Secretary if you can assist.

Good to go Wednesday
Forecast for Wednesday am ,wind at 8-14 should be good to launch ,bit rainy but fairly mild about 10 degrees good chance for a good pre Xmas row and reasonable for anyone wanting to have a go.
Xmas is on its way
Recent weather conditions have not been very kind for coastal rowers, with very little rowing over the past several weeks, but finally a little lull in the wind speeds Saturday saw a good turnout of members with several outings.Hopefully Santa can provide some fine weather for our fun festive activity’s coming up .
Both skiffs are now back in play ,weather permitting ,after the recent refurbishments both looking very good and ready for a busy 2016, details of events and regattas we intend to visit will appear here in due course.
It is also a good time ,prior to the start off the new season for members to pay some attention to their life-jackets ,advice on how to carry out checks from committee members Â
Look who wants to row
After what seemed like an eternity of wet and windy weather through most of November , it was great to see the wind subside enough for us to launch one of our skiffs , a bright morning with temperature slightly above freezing saw about ten members getting the chance to get out rowing again, watched on by one curious Marina visitor.
