Our team took part in the North Berwick regatta with 11 other clubs and were probably up against their toughest ever competition,but came away with a Gold in the Mixed 45+,a Bronze in Mens 50+and the Ladies 50+.A superb effort.
Troon RNLI Day 20.7.19
Our skiff attended the pontoon with Ailsa Lass at the RNLI station and offere
d rowing trips for the public.We also had our Wemyss skiff on display.
On the same day our skiff Marr Voyager attended the Dunure Sea festival but due to lack of space they were unable to offer any rowing.
Prestwick regatta 27.7.19
Our team took part in Prestwick Coastal Rowing Clubs annual regatta along with Arran,FOCCRS,Renegade,Stranraer,Prestwick and Carrick.Arran won the overall regatta with Troon coming in a close fourth place just two points behind FOCCRS and Prestwick who tied for second place.Prestwick supplied a superb lunch and in the evening there was a choice of fish and chips or Indian curry.Entertainment was also superb and all at Troon thank Prestwick for a great day.Photos courtesy of Arran and Prestwick.
2019 World Skiffie Championships 7th-13th July at Stranraer
Our team attended the Worlds in Stranraer.No medals were won but some very close races in tough competition.A tremendous week and our club wish to thank Wendi Cuffe and her team at Stranraer for setting up and producing a brilliant regatta.We also loaned our second skiff Marr Voyager to The Living Boat Trust from Tasmania and wish to thank them for there hospitality and the beautiful plaque they presented to our club. Our club finished 29th out of 55 clubs taking part.
Arran regatta 21st/22nd June 2019
A brilliant weekend was enjoyed by 10 clubs with Troon coming third overall behind North Berwick and Arran.Troon were first in the Mens 220+,second in the Open Mixed and the Mixed 240+,and third in the Novices.Also on Sunday Troon were third in the Hamilton Rock challenge. A great regatta organised by Arran with wonderful weather,great company,barbecue and caley on Saturday evening.
ROYAL WEST REGATTA 1ST JUNE 2019
Our club attended the regatta in Greenock and were a credible fourth overall against stiff opposition.
In the Andy race a mixed team in the Arran skiff with our Mike Downey in stroke won this race.
FOCCRS REGATTA 11TH MAY 2019
Our club attended the FOCCRS regatta in Largs and were the overall winners.
We also won the The David Whinning trophy in our skiff with a mixed team from Arran,Royal West and Cumbrae.
Arran Coastal Rowing Club visit 14.4.19
Our club hosted an inter club event with ACRC members attending returning their invite last year.In cold blustery conditions 500m sprints were held in the Harbour with rows also around the red and green buoys. Club members supplied sandwiches and cakes with tea and coffee.A taxi service was also provided to and from the Arran ferry at Ardrossan for the Arran members.A
n enjoyable day was had by all.
Perth to Wormit row 13.4.19
Ten members of our club took part in the relay row from Perth Sailing club to Wormit. Eight skiffs took part
and although it was not a race Troon completed the 25 miles in first place.
River Ayr 4.4.19
Along with single scullers and canoes our club took part in a “Give it a Go” on the River Ayr. Students from Ayr Academy and The West of
Scotland University took part in a very successful demonstration that this river is suitable for this type of craft.
